PFA220-A00EST PFA220 – Electronic Voltage Protector module for Air Conditioner with contactor
BREAKERMATIC PFA220
220VAC, 10A (control output switch), Adjustable cut-off voltages
For Air Conditioners controlled by a electrical contactor.
The BREAKERMATIC PFA220 is a single-phase electronic voltage protection module for 220V AC refrigeration and air conditioning equipment of any capacity, equipped with contactor control systems. The device can handle a wide range of control voltages, from 24 to 250V AC.
The PFA220 is designed to be incorporated internally into the equipment to be protected, either in the condensing unit or in the evaporator if voltage enters the equipment through it.
The cut-off voltages are adjustable using adjustment knobs accessible from the front of the protector.
The PFA220 output is a de-energized switch. The switch is closed when the voltage is within the range and opens when a fault is detected or during the protector's standby cycle. See the technical data sheet for information on how to connect the protector.
It is connected using spade type, quick connect terminals, which facilitates assembly within the production line.
Ideal for
Air conditioners of any capacity, split, mini-split, or centralized.
Operation
Protection against voltage variations in steady-state operation.
The PFA disconnects the output if the steady-state voltage is above the high cut-off voltage or below the low cut-off voltage set on the adjustment knobs. The response time to a fault is typically 1.5 s. The voltage must remain outside the range longer than the response time for the disconnection to be activated. While the fault is present, the voltage fault indicator will remain lit.
Reconnection delay or wait cycle.
When the protector is energized, or at the end of a voltage failure, the protector will initiate a time delay before connecting the output. The duration of the time delay is indicated in the specifications. The wait cycle protects sensitive equipment from short operating cycles, allowing, in the case of A/C equipment, system pressures to equalize before reconnecting. While the output is off, the wait cycle signal will remain on. Once the wait cycle ends, the output is activated, the wait cycle indicator turns off, and the normal voltage indicator turns on.
Blackout or brownout detection.
The protector will disconnect the load if it detects a sudden voltage drop below 50% of the nominal voltage and will initiate a wait cycle. The blackout detector acts instantly when the criteria indicated in the specifications for the minimum blackout duration are met.
