The BREAKERMATIC Ultra 220 AT is a high-capacity electronic voltage protector specifically designed to prevent damage to refrigeration equipment caused by voltage fluctuations and other power supply disturbances.

It automatically protects your equipment, shutting it down when it detects excessively high or low voltage, or when a blackout or brownout occurs that could damage your refrigeration equipment. Upon detecting a voltage fault, the protector disconnects your equipment, and when the fault disappears, it initiates a standby cycle to allow the power grid to stabilize. In the case of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, the standby cycle allows system pressures to equalize. Once the standby cycle is complete, the BREAKERMATIC Ultra 220 AT  automatically reconnects your equipment.

The BREAKERMATIC Ultra 220 AT allows you to adjust the cutting voltages and the time delay using three knobs with scales on the front label. It also includes a power switch.

The BREAKERMATIC Ultra 220 AT is connected via a terminal block, which comes with a cover to protect against accidental electric shock. It includes a bracket for easy installation on a wall or inside the equipment to be protected.

You'll be able to see if there's a voltage failure, the standby cycle, and the protector's output on its four indicator lights.

Operation

Protection against steady-state voltage variations.

The BREAKERMATIC Ultra 220 AT disconnects the output if the steady-state voltage is above the high cut-off voltage or below the low cut-off voltage selected with the adjustment knobs. The cut-off voltage adjustment range can be found in the product specifications.. The response time for voltage variations is typically 1 s. The voltage must remain outside the range longer than the response time for the disconnection to be activated. While the fault persists, the corresponding high or low voltage indicator will remain illuminated.

Reconnection delay or wait cycle.

Upon energizing the protector, or upon termination of a voltage fault, the protector will initiate a time delay before connecting the output. The time delay duration is set in the adjustment knob. The time adjustment range can be found in the product specifications. The wait cycle protects sensitive equipment from short operating cycles. For example, in the case of refrigeration or air conditioning equipment, it delays startup long enough to allow pressure equalization in the system.

Blackout and Brownout detection.

The protector will disconnect the load if it detects a sudden voltage drop below 50% of the nominal voltage and will initiate a standby cycle. The response time of the blackout detector is instantaneous; the minimum blackout duration is specified in the specifications, but it is guaranteed to be greater than the maximum transfer time on distribution lines.

Load Sequencing

If you have several similar units protected with the BREAKERMATIC ULTRA 220 AT, you can sequence the start-up by setting different delays for each protector. This can help reduce current peaks on your electric meter, especially if you use conventional units with high inrush currents. For example, in hotels or offices with many independent air conditioning units, you can reduce the total peak current consumed by sequencing the start-up of the air conditioners.
